Description

Please note that this journal does not teach you how to use the Symptothermal Method for pregnancy prevention. If you would like to learn to use the Symptothermal Method, please browse the many courses and coaching options available on this website.

Front and back covers:

  • Rest your eyes on the intricate fine-line motif of the inner seasons and physiology of the menstrual cycle and moon phases.
  • This unique circular emblem is a visual reminder of our constantly changing cyclical nature.
  • Underneath, use your fingers to trace the swirling, cosmic crush of deep crimson and warm red watercolours.
  • The waves of creation that emanate from our womb-space regardless of which inner season we are inhabiting.

Paper stock:

  • A bright white paper rises to meet every fresh cycle.
  • Crisp, open, and waiting to receive your words, intentions, dreams and gratefulness in written form.
  • 120gsm and designed to accommodate both ballpoint pens and colouring pencils.
  • Ink pens will bleed through this paper stock, so use with caution.

Journal Includes:

26 CHART TEMPLATES (see image gallery for chart template layout):

Each chart template contains enough space for a menstrual cycle of up to 40 days.

  • “I have 40-day menstrual cycles” – The Seasons Charting Journal will last you 1,040 days (approximately 2 years and 9 months)
  • “I have 28-day menstrual cycles” – The Seasons Charting Journal will last you 728 days (approximately 2 years).
  • “I have 24-day menstrual cycles” – The Seasons Charting Journal will last you 624 days (approximately 1 year and 8 months).

  • Temperatures: On the left of the graph section, you will find a Celsius temperature scale. On the right of the graph section, you will find a Fahrenheit scale.
    • Please note: These two separate temperature scales are not convertible. This means you cannot look at the Celsius scale on the left and expect that the value will convert to the Fahrenheit scale on the right. Scales are not convertible.
  • Cervical mucus: Includes space for written descriptive notes of visual characteristics and quantity. Includes a row for sensation at the vulva (Dry/Moist/Wet/Slippery). Includes a summarisation row of “Dry / Non Peak / Peak type”. This summarisation row is based on both sensation and visible mucus observations. The “Dry / Non Peak / Peak type” categorisation system is an effective approach common to a range of established Symptothermal Methods. Includes a Peak Count row for assigning Peak Day and the count of 3.
      • Please note: Different Symptothermal Methods utilise different types of cervical mucus charting and categorisation systems. Check with your instructor, as these cervical mucus categorisation options may not be relevant to your chosen FABM.
  • Bleeding: Charts include a row to record bleeding. S=spotting, L=light, M=medium, H=heavy bleeding.
  • Urinary hormone metabolite testing: Charts include a row for recording the results of luteinising hormone tests (OPKs), progesterone tests and home pregnancy tests.
  • Cervix tracking: Charts include space to track the height, openness and firmness of the cervix.
  • Fertility and sex: Charts include a section to mark fertile vs infertile days, and keep track of sexual activity.
  • Current cycle data: Charts include a section to keep track of current cycle data (current month/year, your age, your cycle number, your reproductive intentions [Trying To Avoid, Trying To Conceive, Trying To Whatever], the usual time you take your temperature each morning, and whether your previous chart was ovulatory. At the end of the cycle, you can also fill out which day your temperature shift began on, and the overall length of your cycle).
  • Past cycles data: Charts include a section to keep track of past cycles. This includes your earliest ever temperature shift, plus a basic “Minus 8” calculation rule (providing a “last infertile day” calculation). There is also an option to opt for a “Minus 20” calculation rule (providing a “last infertile day” calculation) based on your shortest cycle length from the previous 12.
    • Please note: Different Symptothermal Methods utilise different types of calculation rules. Check with your instructor, as these calculation rules may not be relevant to your chosen FABM.

Each chart is followed by:

CUSTOM DATA TRACKING PAGE

  • Track daily vitamin and mineral supplements.
  • Track secondary fertility changes such as cyclical breast swelling, acne, water retention/bloating, constipation, and more.
  • Track daily habits such as water consumption, exercise, reading, housekeeping, plant-watering and more.

DOT GRID AND MOOD TRACKING PAGES

  • Allow yourself to finally connect with your deepest cyclical being; the version of yourself who changes across each phase of the menstrual cycle, like the face of the moon across the night sky.
  • Take a moment each day to record the energies, emotions, thoughts and feelings that have moved you, lifted you, and transported you throughout your day.
  • Assign each mood a different colour, and watch the visual colour wheel take shape before your eyes.
  • Over time, the Seasons Charting Journal begins to uncover the roadmap of your cyclical nature.
  • Knowing yourself so intimately allows you to fully step into the strengths and power that each inner season of your cycle brings.

MENSTRUALITY CONTENT:

  • Learn how the rising and falling hormones of the menstrual cycle can impact your outlook, energy, and emotions.
  • Follow the slowly turning inner seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter – each diagram allows you to descend a little deeper into the fascinating world of your own cyclical nature.
  • Brew a hot cacao or herbal tea. How might you feel in the week leading up to ovulation? How might your needs during this week differ to your needs while you’re menstruating?
  • Get comfy and take a moment to learn more about the ways that we exist as cyclical beings across the different phases of our menstrual cycle.
  • These pages are designed to pique your interest and also include recommendations for further reading if the topic speaks to you.

MOON PHASE TRACKERS (both Southern and Northern Hemisphere) 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026

  • There are a lot of misconceptions about the moon and our menstrual cycles/fertility.
  • It’s time to get clarity.
  • Learn how the moon may or may not impact the timing of your ovulation. Learn about the origins of the myth that the moon can trigger multiple ovulations.
  • Are you bleeding with the full moon, the new moon, or somewhere in-between?
  • Track the trajectory of your bleed against the trajectory of the moon phases throughout the year.
  • Is there a pattern to when you ovulate or menstruate? You’ll soon see if there is. 2023 is included so that you can look back at your past menstruation data, too.

Please note: Tracking moon phases is not a part of the Symptothermal Method and is not required to meet method effectiveness. Moon phase tracking is included for those who enjoy feeling connected to nature in this way. You can read more about why moon phases have nothing to do with pregnancy prevention here: https://fertilitycharting.com.au/2019/11/30/can-the-moon-cause-random-ovulation/

CYCLE SNAPSHOT PAGE:

Keep track of your cycle length, start date, peak day, first day of each temperature shift and your luteal phase length from both peak day and temperature shift. Over time, identify what your normal cycle parameters are.

YEAR PLANNERS 2024, 2025, 2026:

Use these birds-eye pages to keep track of important events throughout the year, as you plan your life in conjunction with your menstrual cycle.

HERBAL COLOURING PAGE:

Common herbal allies for hormonal health surround the encouragement of “You’ve Got This”. Sometimes it can be overwhelming/daunting to learn to chart our cycles. This page is designed to make you smile and feel encouraged and seen as you embark on your journaling.
