Hey friend 👋

Thanks for stopping by my corner of the Internet 😊

Here you’ll find a whole new world of mind-blowing information about your body and your menstrual cycle – information that you should have been taught as a young person!

But no matter your age – it’s never too late to start learning, and that’s where I come in.

I’m Jessie

I grew up in a tiny coastal village in New Zealand, and moved to Australia after finishing University at 21. In 2015 I spent a month surfing a remote island in Indonesia, where I met my partner, Sam. Together, we live on the Gold Coast of Australia and have a beautiful little boy who keeps us (very) busy.

I stumbled across the Symptothermal Method back when I was 26 years old. I was on the combined oral contraceptive Pill at the time, and I felt like I was living in a cloud (not in a good way – more like in an emotionally dissociative way). I was dealing with birth control side effects including melasma on my face, anxiety attacks, hair loss, water retention, and breast pain.

I’d originally gone on the Pill because my doctor said it was my only choice! I hadn’t wanted an IUD pushed into my uterus, and I also didn’t want to use condoms forever – so I was told the Pill was really the only option for me 😥

I felt stuck between a rock and a hard place!

Finding out about the Symptothermal Method changed the course of my life. I was absolutely mind blown that my body had this built-in method of birth control all along! I was suddenly IN CHARGE of my own reproductive health and wellbeing – and for a stubborn, independent Taurus? That felt good 😆

My life became consumed with learning everything I could about cervical mucus, basal body temperature, ovulation, the menstrual cycle, and the history of Fertility Awareness-Based Methods. I bought every FAM book I could get my hands on and read voraciously – including historical texts.

I began developing beautiful paper charting journals for other charters to use, and then went on to formally study with the Natural Family Planning Teachers’ Association.

I had a burning drive to share this basic body knowledge as far as I could – and over the years this drive has only grown stronger. I’ve seen how body literacy phenomenally changes peoples lives – and I want everyone to have access to learn 💛

Outside of my passion for spreading awareness of the power of the Symptothermal Method, I am:

🧘 A quiet introvert: My own company keeps me happy and I enjoy the quiet (in rare moments, because we know toddlers are not quiet – unless they’re up to mischief).

🧠 A pattern maker: I can spend hours reading studies and trying to establish patterns and connections on Fertility Awareness topics

🌧️ A nature lover: The way the rain falls softly, the way the light dances on leaves against cloud-streaked skies, the way the earth smells deep in the rainforest – all these things can bring me to tears

🏄‍♀️ A surfer: Nothing brings me a greater thrill than stroking into a gentle wave and then gliding across the surface while I hear the hiss and bubble of the ocean around me. I’m so lucky to live on the Gold Coast where the water is usually crystal clear turquoise – bliss!

🧸 A mum: Motherhood continues to teach me some of the greatest lessons of this life, lessons I am still in the process of learning. Sometimes (often) motherhood brings me to my knees as an introvert who can easily feel burned out – I am not a Type A mum but am learning that is okay.

🎨 A creative: I quickly realised when building my online courses and publishing my book that stock image websites DON’T have many useful images of vulvas, cervical mucus, ovulation, and the menstrual cycle! So, I took matters into my own hands. Many of the illustrations and diagrams you’ll see inside my online courses and textbook are my own work.  Craft stores also bring me joy – in rare pockets of free time you’ll find me crocheting, doodling, baking, and painting too.
